Is your new laptop aftermarket battery not recognized by the computer? Aftermarket batteries are a great value for most consumers. They can save you time, money, and hassle compared with buying batteries from the big-name manufacturers. However, some aftermarket batteries may seem incompatible when you first try to use them. Every now and then, when you purchase a new replacement battery for a laptop, install it, and begin to charge it, you may notice some problems. This is not the time to panic or demand a refund because of a defective product. In most of these cases, a few simple steps will have the battery up and running in the computer just like the original. So, if your battery is not recognized by the computer, or the battery will not charge, or even if the computer says the battery is incompatible, try these tips to help get the battery working the way you need it to.

The first thing you should do if your new laptop battery is not working is to make sure you received the correct battery such as Hp Omnibook XE battery. Obviously, you can often tell if the battery is incorrect by the shape and size. However, the confusion comes into play when the battery fits into the computer fine but will not charge or will not power the laptop. This is often the result of an incorrect compatibility assessment from the maker of the laptop battery. If this happens, check with the seller to see if the manufacturer has an updated battery model that is specifically compatible with your Laptop Model. The important thing to remember is, while the battery may look like the right battery and fit correctly, the insides are what really matter and those can be quite different from your original battery and may cause the incompatibility.

Next, I you notice the battery simply will not charge, there are several things you must consider. The first consideration goes back to my first point about compatibility. If the battery is incompatible with the computer, most often it will not charge using the ac adapter your laptop is equipped with. You may wonder how you would even know if the battery s charging if it is not working in the laptop, but many laptop batteries have built in power meters that indicate how much charge is left on the battery. If the battery indicates that it is charging, but the computer will not run on the battery itself, the problem may lie in the computer software.

More and more computer manufacturers are implementing battery checking software pre-installed into their laptops. This software does nothing more than check the battery that is installed to see if it is an OEM battery from that specific manufacturer. If it is not, the user is often confronted with annoying pop up messages warning about an incompatible battery and sometimes even complete shut downs of the computer itself. This software serves one purpose: to persuade the user to buy an overpriced laptop battery from the computer manufacturer. But why do that when there are much more economical alternatives? Sometimes, if willing to endure the pop up messages, the user can still use the aftermarket replacement battery in the laptop with no other problems. If the laptop starts shutting down, however, it is necessary to turn off or remove the battery checking software. While a call to the manufacturer's customer service line may sometimes produce a solution, often a Google search for other users' solutions to similar problems is the best route.
