DRUG BARONS ON THE RUN

In a recent shortage of hard substance known as cocaine in the country has generated a hited argument among some top prominent individuals in the Ghanaian political landscape.

 

The President declared Ghana as no go area for drug traffickers, and was able to bring down the number of drug traffickers.

 

On Monday the 8th of  September, 2009, the boss of Exopa Modeling Agency, Mr Ibrahim Sima was busted at the Kotoka International Airport, trafficking drug out side the the country.

 

In the recent past addmistration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), drug traffickers could easily passed through the immigration formalities leading to the country’s name being painted black in the international community of nations as drug destination Been Used by drug barons for their transactions.

 

In 2006, Narcotic Control Board (NCB) and the Berau of National Investigation (BNI) nabbed MV Benjamin Ship carrying cocaine on the territorial waters of Ghana. 77 parcels of cocaine were found in the vessel.

 

A lot of people were implicated in the MV Benjamin cocaine vessel, including some senior police and government officials leading to the dismissal of Mr. Kofi Boakye, Director of operation of the Ghana Police Service.

 

While the then government was denying any involvement in the cocaine scandal, a leading member of legislation on the ticket of the NPP government in 2006 was busted in the United States of America for importing hard substance believed to be cocaine.

 

Mr. Eric Amoaten was arranged before court in the USA and was later sentenced, and currently serving his jail term in the United States of America since 2006.

 

Ghanaians lost faith in the Kuffour’s addmistration when it was made public that the 77 parcels of cocaine disappear at the National Police Headquarters in the full glare of heavy police presents.

 

Mr Kobina Amani alis Tagoe and Alhaji Issah Abass were later arrested in connection with the MV Bejamin vessel and arranged before court. The two wee later jailed for their involvement in the case.

 

In the eighth months of National Democratic Government in officer, the drug barons went into hiding. Number of people was recently arrested at the Kotoka International Airport trying to smuggle cocaine out of the country. A Panamanian ship was busted Tema Harbour carrying cocaine into the country.

 

The president upon making his first trip to the UK submitted himself for security check before his departure and ordered same to every member of his entourage.
