The Blackberry 9105 pearl 3g-fresh for 2010

The forthcoming release of the latest offering from Blackberry, the 9105 Pearl 3G, sees the brand move away from their traditional QWERTY keypad towards an altogether more functional and compact unit that should appeal to the more traditional phone user look for a functional handset. With measurements of 107 x 49.7 x 13.3mm, the phone is the smallest and most compact Blackberry offering to date. The slightly old fashioned design of the handset perhaps illustrates Blackberry's intentions to make this their entry level phone, and one that will appeal to the more traditional phone user looking to upgrade their phone. The weight of 93 grammes again is lightweight and appealing. The screen on this model produces pleasing results. The resolution of 360 x 400 gives great image clarity and the 256k colour reproduction aides this point as well. The screen itself is not a touchscreen so Blackberry rely upon a trackpad system to move the user around the screen. The older trackball has been banished now, and a very impressive optical trackpad put in its place. This is a much more effective system, working like the trackpad found on many laptops, where simply gliding your finger over it performs the navigation. Beneath the screen and trackpad is the where you will find the traditional alphanumeric keypad, a choice that has been favoured above the normal Blackberry QWERTY option. Not only has this reduced size but thanks to predictive text, as well as Blackberrys own SureType technology, the speed and ease of writing a message has not been affected. A look at the multimedia aspects of the Blackberry 9105 Pearl 3G show that they are fairly impressive too. A 3.2 million pixel camera offers a great quality of picture. These results are achieved partly thanks to the autofocus feature helping to eliminate blurry photographs. A handy zoom function lets you get a little more detail out of objects that are far away and the flash aides photographing in Less Than perfect lighting conditions. With regards to audio and video files, a diverse range of formats are supported by the handset meaning its performs as a versatile media player as well as a phone. The inclusion of a 3.5mm stereo jack emphasises this point, allowing a choice of headphones to be used on the unit. All things considered, this is a good attempt from Blackberry to break away from their traditional, business user phone and offer a more compact and simplified handset, without sacrificing the features and connectivity that have become associated with the brand.
