Polytunnels are the Plant Protectors
One of the problems being encounter of our farmers and horticulturists are the climate change especially during summer and rainy season. Climate change is the critical time where they need to double their efforts in taking care of their plants, soil, and flowers to avoid damage. There are many strategies made and created just to make sure that they will be preserved and be harvested at the right time especially to those farmers who are engaged in producing basic foods like wheat, grains, vegetables, and fruits. One of the protectors made to screen all the rays and rains that would directly pour on them is polytunnel.
With fruits, since majority of them are grown up trees, they can live on their own with the strength that they have from their roots. On the other hand, horticulturists focus on keeping the flowers of the plants fresh and beautiful because it's their business and it cannot even be attributed as a need compared to other vegetations and crops, which are to be considered as foods. Hence, Polytunnels are here to support the various farmers of different regions and states who need shelter for their growing plants. They also need shades like humans because there are also unhealthy effects of too much sun or pouring water to them.
Poly tunnels are not just made for that purpose; one of the reasons is to avoid destruction to the sensitive parts of the plants, especially leafy types of vegetables, from the blow of the winds. It is actually a bright idea and a good way of preserving them while they are young. Mostly these are being set up to young and tender plants who needs shield and screen against various natural elements that could caused damage to different parts of their bodies. With this set up, the owner and the people who take care of them would be assured especially when storm comes that they will be vulnerable to the attacks of the winds of the storms.
There different sizes of poly tunnel and these vary according to the length of the farm or the garden where it would be set up. It would be measured accordingly. The standard gauge for it is the kind of weather or seasons that a specific country has. It connotes that tunnels are made according to the longevity and strength of each season. There are single, double, multy, butterfly type, aseptic, semi-open, curve, curve tunnel, and a ventilation unit type of roof.
Polytunnel is not just made for plants, crops and other vegetation. This is also use for animal husbandry, propagation purposes for plants, and a drying unit. Yet, it is known too, to shade off or screen off solar radiation to the earth surface. Our ozone layer, which serves as the protector of the earth, has totally diminished due to the damage caused, and made by people because of pollutions. There is no way that the natural shades for plants and animals can be given since the green house effect had gone a long way to the earth's surface that causes global warming.
