Arc mouse. Is it for you?

Question: ARC Mouse? What is it?

Answer: A Wireless Mouse. The ARC is the latest Mirosoft wireless mouse. With its unique design, it’s not only stylish, but also easy to carry. The ARC Mouse, designed arc-shaped appearance, can be folded and it is equipped with a Micro-Transceiver that snaps into the bottom of the mouse.

Question: I’ve just bought an ARC. But, would you please kindly tell me what’s the side-button for? I plug the USB in my computer, and it works. But I wonder, should I download any software driver to make the side-button activate? And, how to adjust its sensitivity? I feel the ARC much more sensitive than the normal ones. And I have idea that, I have to adjust it in the Control Panel, I mean, the Laser Sensor, am I right? Please kindly tell me, Masters!

Answer: The default function of this side-button is “BACK”, that’s the back button. For example, when you are wading through the websites, press the side-button, you can go back to the last page you’ve just read. Question: People says that, the ARC will be outage once it’s folded. But mine, if I fold my mouse without plugging out the Receiver, the mouse can be still in use. And the service time of the battery is only about 1 month. Why? I’m very appreciated if any one could kindly tell me.

Answer: I’m interested in your confusion, and I’ve disassembled my own ARC. I found that there’s no mechanical switch or metallic contact between the front and rear parts. However, there’s a magnet in the rear part which can attract the Receiver; and there’s one in the front too. It’s exactly at the back of the right corner of the Mouse Pad, and I think, there must be a circuitry which can induce the change of the magnetic field. How it works? It should use the closure of the magnetic field to shut down the power. When open the tail-cover, the distance of the two magnets becomes longer, and the strength of the field is not strong enough, and the magnetic field opens, and the circuitry starts working.

So, if your magnet of the tail-cover cannot induce the Receiver any longer, that means the magnet at the rear part degausses. And while the one at the rear part is OK, that means the one at the front part degausses, or it is bad.

Question: Can anyone kindly tell me how I can set the code after changing the battery for the Microsoft ARC Mouse?

Answer: You don’t need to set the code for the ARC Mouse. Please check your battery and make sure that your Receiver is the original one. If it still doesn’t work when you plug the Receiver in, please take it to the dealers and ask for help. For the quality problem, you can replace a new one for free in 3 years since you bought the mouse. The ARC is the 2.4g technology mouse. You don’t need to set the code. It may be possible that you put the battery in the wrong way.
