Samsung Omnia 2: Big, Brilliant, Boundless

The first thing you notice about the Samsung Omnia 2 is its massive screen.  The huge AMOLED display speaks of sophistication, innovation and style.  AMOLED technology is so revolutionary that the display provides dazzling colours and it can be viewed from any angle, even under direct sunlight.  And since the screen is a wide 3.7 inches, you get to appreciate inspiring views even more.  Another great thing about an AMOLED screen is its power conservation capabilities.

Multimedia on the Omnia 2 is fully enhanced and presents you with seemingly limitless possibilities when it comes to amusement.  The highlight of this device’s entertainment set is definitely the media gate and the gallery.  The media gate is a 3D cube that you can flip around if you want to access the camera, photo album, Music Player, games, video player, browser or the menu.  Flicking through these applications is a snap as the interface is quite responsive.

The gallery is also something to behold.  Photographs may be displayed onto a 3D arc where you scroll by each photograph with a slide of your finger.  You can also view pictures by folders where you get easy access to pictures within a folder with a simple scroll.  There is also the main photo browsing application, the photo album which displays the photographs by month and shows several pictures belonging to that album.

Scrolling is by way of finger sweep and if you want to zoom in, all you have to do is tap a section of the photograph.  You can also choose to view images via a slideshow and through a very cool grid feature where you shake the phone and it displays a grid of pictures arranged by date.  These features make photo browsing on the Omnia 2 simply superb.

Internet browsing is a satisfying experience on this phone.  The Omnia 2 is 3G enabled and you get smooth, fast downloads.  Alternatively there is also WiFi support.  The media player on this device is your portal to audio and video functions.  Over the Library menu you can access albums, genres, all music, artists and videos.  The phone can switch to landscape view when you are watching video clips.

Entertainment isn't the only item the phone covers, though and there are a lot of features that are practical in a work setting.  The Omnia 2 is pre-installed with Microsoft Office where you can view and edit documents.  Integration with Microsoft ActiveSync provides you with push e-mail plus there is even a GPS receiver on board.
