Blackberry 8520 Gemini Curve - A Review

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 has been launched. Gemini is the coded name of BlackBerry 8520. Its cost is very low as compared to other BlackBerry Cell Phones so it was new experience for both business and consumers. I have used this phone in my opinion it a nice phone.

It has a compact and slim body as compared to BlackBerry Curve 8900. Infect, the both are of the same size, but the 8900 looks a bit larger. The Gemini is relatively thinner than the BlackBerry Curve 8320. It has a rubber grip around it, which covers the upper portion of the back of cell phone where camera lens is located. Curve logo has been embossed in the rubber grip.

There are typical blackberry button on the sides of the cell phone. On the upper left hand corner a headphone jack of 3.5 mm is located together with micro USB cable socket. For the first time in Blackberry phones there are some button to control music e.g. next and precious track button, pause and play button and a mute button.

There is a Battery Cover is in the middle portion of the cell phone, and new BlackBerry logo has been embossed in it. When we open this cover we found a C-S2 Gemini battery and a slot for Micro SD card. We does not have to remove the battery to remove or insert the card.

On the other hand there is a large lens (a single plastic lens) in the front of cell phone. Which extends to the end, back, menu and send buttons. A small rubber spate the end and send keys.

Its keypad is of the same size as of BlackBerry 8900, but its keys are a bit closer together. Resolution and Screen Size is similar to BlackBerry Curve 8320. Gemini has OS 4.6, due to which its theme looks like the theme of BlackBerry 8900 and BlackBerry Bold. There are some other great features which are below:

4. Stereo Profile (A2DP) enables Bluetooth, 802.11b/g enabled Wi-Fi.

5. Video format support: WMV3, MPEG4, H.264, H.263.

6. Audio format support: AACAMR-NB, eAAC+, -LC, AAC+, WMA9 (.asf /.wma), WMA 10/ WMA9 PRO.

7. Picture Format Support: png, jpg, wbmp, bmp, tif.

8. Standby up to 17 days and Talk time up to 4.5 hours.

9. It supports BlackBerry App World™.

10. It has a Flash memory of 256 MB.

11. Quad-Band of 850,900,1800,1900Mhz GPRS/GSM and EDGE networks
