The New iPhone 4-A Treat For Phone Fans Everywhere
The new iPhone 4 is now available following what seems like an endless wait. This latest release from Apple sees some useful new features on offer, and the first ever redesign of the now famous iPhone body.
First impressions of the iPhone 4 are Very Good. The build quality still feels impressive, perhaps even more so than before thanks to the new design of the handset. Weighing in two grammes heavier than its predecessor, the 3GS, this makes the phone fell very well constructed. This is in contrast to other manufacturers efforts to produce increasingly lightweight handsets, sometimes giving the phones a cheaper feel. You can attribute the weight gain on the iPhone 4 to the new materials that are used. The famous curved back with the glossy black plastic finish has disappeared, and in its place a single sheet of high quality glass. Apple have chemically treated this glass to increase its durability, with reports quoting that it is 20 times harder than plastic and 30 times stronger. The glass was initially designed for the front of the phone, but it was so impressive that the decision was made to fit it on the rear of the shell as well. Not only does this keep things nice and uniform, but also allows for a marked difference between the black and the long awaited white model, which on previous versions were simply different coloured back plates. Placed impressively between these two sheets is a stainless steel strip which not only adds to the expensive look, but also acts as the phones various antennas. This means Apple can keep the depth of the phone down to a tiny 9.3mm, which in comparison to the 3GS is a 24% improvement. A fact often overlooked is that this is indeed a Mobile Phone, thus call quality is very important.
The iPhone 4 certainly does not lack in this department. This new update features a second microphone. This acts as a noise cancelling tool, and helps achieve crystal clear results in even the noisiest of environments. With regards to actually making calls, the new iPhone also incorporates the heavily advertised "FaceTime" technology. Effectively a form of video calling, this new system utilises the users own internet connection thanks to the phone in built WiFi facilities. Providing the other user also has an iPhone 4, video calls can be achieved with stunning audio and visual quality, thanks to them not using the slower cellular network. Of course, in order for such a system to work, a front facing camera is needed, which Apple duly oblige by incorporating on this new handset. The iPhone 4 will appeal to most areas of the mobile phone market. As an upgrade its an obvious improvement on existing technology, or for those who just like to keep up to date with the latest must have items, it will certainly do this job as well. A great look with unrivalled user friendliness and great features set it apart from the majority of other handsets available.
