Make the Best of Business Travel
While a growing number of organisations advocate the use of teleconferencing there are times when business meetings need to be conducted face-to-face. If you are planning a business travel trip, there are handy hints and tips that help to make your time away from home easy and hassle free.
If you have an early morning flight to catch you could consider staying at an airport hotel the night before. This can ease the strain a little and means more sleep for you before boarding the flight.
Checking in online can help you to avoid long queues at the airport and often means you can arrive at the airport a little later.
If you don't need to stay in an airport hotel then you might want to travel to the airport via public transport as opposed to driving yourself. This saves you the hassle of finding somewhere to park and gives you time to relax en-route to the airport.
When it comes to packing, try to take hand luggage only. Travelling light makes your journey through airports much easier and saves you time upon arrival.
Once you arrive at the airport, check whether you can make use of the airport lounges. They tend to be much quieter and give you a break from the hubbub of the main airport. You may even find you receive complementary soft drinks, snacks, newspapers and even free internet access so this is an option worth investigation.
You don't have to be travelling in business or first class to make use of executive airport lounges; you can pay to gain entry for a few hours and certain Credit Card companies include this as a perk for their corporate card holders so check before you travel.
Once aboard the flight, try to minimise the aftermath of jetlag by staying hydrated. If you have a long journey then try to move around as much as possible during your flight. A periodic stroll up and down the aisle can help greatly and helps to reduce the likelihood of flight related ailments like deep vein thrombosis.
