It's not just lightweight, it's also super thin. Attach it to a string and we're sure you could get it up and flying like a kite in a 40 mph wind. It's the first full-sized laptop on the market that is actually comfortable to carry around all day. And conveniently, it's lightweight and sliver-thin width allow you to stuff into just about any old briefcase or backpack comfortably.
Happily, the MacBook Air manages decent performance for its weight and size. Don't harbor any illusions of intensive video editing or online gaming with the MacBook Air, but for every day use it delivers the performance you've learned to expect from the MacBook series. The MacBook Air features of a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM and an 80GB Hard Drive. Yes, that's significantly weaker than the setup on the standard MacBook, but provides more than enough juice to handle business and home applications along with multimedia.
Editing photos and navigating files is a pleasure with the help of the new and improved, oversize trackpad on the MacBook Air. The MacBook Air's touchpad features ramped up multi-touch technology. Rotate photos, minimize windows, zoom or scroll with simple multi-finger pinch, swipe and twist motions. The new gestures are highly functional and much more interactive than the traditional mouse emulation approach used on other notebooks.
Editing photos will look fantastic on the MacBook Air's 1280 x 800 native resolution. We're particularly enamored with the 13-inch LED backlit display. The LED display keeps the lid razor thin and impressively, the MacBook Air's display is noticeably brighter than that on the conventional MacBook. A light sensor built in to the MacBook Air automatically adjusts screen brightness to compliment ambient light levels—very cool.
