I recently got a basic setup where I use an S-Video cable to watch videos from my PC to my TV. When I use windows media player the video plays on my monitor but not on my TV. But when I used the VLC it played on both. Then I reinstalled Windows, I used the same graphics card driver as before but now when I use VLC the video does not come up on my TV. Thought it might be because I was using a naewer version of VLC, but I uninstalled and used an older version and it still doesn't work so I updated the graphics driver but it still won't work on my TV.

So while trying to figure out that puzzle I have a MacBook laptop and while I love the diversity and control of the unit, I want to experience the ultimate satisfaction which is watching great movies, flicks and late night shows in high resolution and sound...but on a wide flat screen tv, not a 13 inch!

A recent forum post also grabbed my attention: "Hi, I am wondering whether anyone can help. I have plugged a vga cable from my MacBook latop into my television which is fine and transmits the picture. However, when I have tried to put an RCA cable from my laptop in to my television (via a phono convertor) the sound still comes out of my laptop and not the tv speakers. Any recommendations?"
