How to get your Blackberry Phone Unlocked to use World Wide
Do you wish you could use your Blackberry Cell phone in other countries or wish to switch phone carriers and still use your same phone without having to buy a new one? If you have a Gsm Blackberry phone, you can have it unlocked and use it with Any Gsm carrier world wide.
In order to get your Blackberry phone unlocked it must be a GSM version - for example AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM carriers and their Blackberry phone models can easily be unlocked by simply entering a code into the phone.
In order to get your Blackberry Cell Phone Unlocked, you first must determine which model Blackberry phone you have and get the IMEI number and the network to which your Blackberry phone is locked to. To find out the IMEI number, dial *#06# on your phone's keypad.
Once you have determined this code, you can simply call you cell phone provider and give them the IMEI number from the phone and have them Unlock Your Blackberry for you free of charge. Most people do not know this but the cell phone carriers will provide you the Unlock Code for your phone if you are an existing customer.
On the other hand if you would like to have a Blackberry unlocked on a mobile carrier that you do not belong to, their are several services online that you can pay $5 - $10 for an unlock code you have your Blackberry phone unlocked.
Once your Blackberry phone is unlocked, it can be used with any GSM Carrier worldwide and it permanently unlocked.
Generally cell phone providers lock phones so they can have exclusive rights to them and to deter their customers from switching to other carriers. It is completely fine to unlocked Blackberry phones as well as other Cell Phones and congress is actually trying to make it possible to have all phones required to be unlocked. I guess we will see.
