Wall Decorating 101
When the home has a wall that is bare and ugly there are several things that could be causing the problem such as: Pipes that are visible, cracked and peeling paint, wires that have been installed for cable or phones and cracks or holes in the wall. All these things contribute to having a bare and ugly wall. Having any of these issues can be frustrating; usually the homeowner does not know where to begin transforming the wall into something more pleasing to the eye. Listed below are some ideas to help in decorating the ugly wall so that it is more enjoyable.
With many styles, textures and colors to choose from wallpaper is an excellent choice. Many times the homeowner will be disappointed to find that fixing a wall with many cracks or holes can be very expensive. Easy to apply, the wallpaper can cover most any wall and can be cut to form around any object. Choosing heavy wallpaper will hide any holes or cracking areas in the wall. Also, there are plain wallpapers available for painting in order to keep the color consistent in the room. Wallpaper is an excellent choice when it comes to saving time and it is also budgeting friendly.
Over time paint on the walls can begin to show signs of aging, or perhaps the paint that is on the walls was not applied properly. Sometimes the homeowner just wants to change the color of the walls in order to update to a more modern style and to add a fresh coat of paint. Using a flat paint in a more subtle color will aid in hiding problem areas in the wall that are quite noticeable when the light is reflected on it. Also, there are a wide variety of stenciling patterns available today that will not only add a nice decor to the walls but will also cover any noticeable problem areas.
When there are more problem areas such as cables for televisions or phone wires that need to be hidden using a wall tapestry is an excellent way to not only hide these areas but also to add a touch of style to the wall.
Room dividers are another great way to hide any areas that cannot be hidden by painting or wallpaper. Dividers are usually screens that can be placed anywhere in the room. If there are wall accessories that are already in place on the walls, finding a room divider that will match will not be a problem. Dividers come in many colors and patterns and are a quick fix to any part of a wall that needs to be hidden.
