Wrist Watch Cell Phones
The revolution of the cell phone, which has shrunk in size and become available in every imaginable color, continues to grow in popularity. You no longer need to keep this handy device in your pocket or handbag and you no longer need to worry about loosing it on the taxi or bus, as they can now be fastened to your wrist.
When choosing a wrist cell phone, be sure to include the same deliberation as choosing any Mobile Phone. Look for the features you want, the connectivity and compatibility you'd like as well as the signal reception and screen resolution.
While there are some advantages to the wrist cell phone, such as Outlook email sync, MP3 player and speakerphone, there are also some negatives. One downside is the tiny screen size and another is that the device still tends to be a bit bulky. But overall people are still able to get most of the features they are used to having in a regular cellular phone.
One of the pioneers in wireless services, Ntt Docomo has developed a technology called FingerWhisper that makes a wrist watch phone easier to manage and operate. FingerWhisper efforts, which began back in 1996, adapts voice to vibration.
Worn on the wrist, the FingerWhisper eliminates the need for buttons altogether by using a wristband to convert the sounds of conversation to vibrations that can be heard when the finger is placed in the ear.
Mobile phone provider Samsung introduced a cutting-edge watch phone, the SPH-WP10 and last year, launched a wrist phone that features a 1.76" full Touch Screen with 176x220 pixels of resolution. The S9110 is 11.98mm thick as a result of the company's advanced surface mounting technology. Additional features include MP3, voice recognition, speakerphone support and an internal memory of 40MB.
LG rolled out a prototype, dubbed the LG-GD910, which features a 1.43-inch (3.63 centimeter) screen and a touch-screen interface. The speaker and microphones in the product work well enough to use it as a speakerphone. The watch, which weighs in at about 84 grams, is 3G compatible and LG integrated Bluetooth technology into the product. The wrist cell phone also has a voice-to-text feature, which enables the phone to "read" text messages over its speaker.
Wrist cell phones may become the next big trend but that will depend on whether consumers believe they are more improved and more practical than traditional cell phones.
