You can only unlock the Phenom / Athlon II dual and triple cores.
The reason that they are unlockable is because they began their life in the production facility as quad cores, but with 1 or 2 cores disabled or removed later on.
People then later found out that some of these processors could have their cores re-activated using a simple motherboard setting.
You might be wondering why AMD would go so far as to take perfectly good quad core chips and then turn them into dual cores by disabling the cores -- they do this because it's actually cheaper to use the quad core chips as a template rather than having a seperate process to create dual-core only chips.
the Phenom 2 x4's are quad cores -- you have no more cores to unlock.
You can still get more performance out of them by overclocking them though.
