Why does a camera Memory Card lose pictures.?

It was locked, so I unlocked it and the camera said no images.

Memory cards, like USB flash drives and solid-state drives are NOT magnetic based.

A flash based storage device like the memory card in your camera has a finite number of program-erase cycles (typically written as P/E cycles). Most commercially available flash products are guaranteed to withstand around 100,000 P/E cycles (can go up to 1,000,000), before the wear begins to deteriorate the integrity of the storage.

Every time your erase data from the card, you wear it out and eventually it just stops working correctly. Of course, it might also be a manufacturing default.

But for your problem is that the card was locked ... just think about a box, you mom asks you to put something in the box in the other room but the room is locked and you don;t have the key so the stuff doesn't get into the box. Same thing with your card. It couldn't put the files on the card cause it was locked.
