What % of X2 550s unlock into quad cores?
I'm purchasing one, and a mobo capable of unlocking, just wondering what my chances are
obviously you know that all Phenom II processors are initially quad core processors. why for heavens sake should AMD then sell it as triple core or Dual Core processors and locking 1 or 2 cores? this makes no sense, they have other dual core cpu's e.g. the Regor and triple core cpu's isn't a must have.
the true reason is that in a triple or dual core Phenom either a core or the L2 cache of a core is defective and AMD hasn't to dump these partially defective cpu's but can sell them as triple or dual core cpu's.
i've already read for several times that one might have unlocked the other cores but this is a fairytale. it probably looks like the cores are unlocked but this is just a fake.
if you have a real prove of unlocking cores of a dual or triple core Phenom i will change my mind.
