Farewell to the Classic Sony Cassette Walkman
Sony announced Monday (Oct. 25, 2010) that it has ceased production of the classic, cassette tape Walkman in Japan, effectively sounding the death knell of the once iconic, now obsolete device. It has been the most important memory for those 70s and 80s because the walkman was first came into being in 1970s .The first model, the TPS-L2, debuted in July 1979. (It retailed for $200.)You may see that now days everybody from all generations are using the most upgraded IPod from Apple. It has been a fashion or even phenomenon, but none of the success of Apple's portable music players would have ever happened without the cassette Walkman as the official data says that some 220 million have been sold since the first model.
Cassette Walkman in Memory
The cassette has been the valuable memory for the music founders who suffered from the roundedness of sitting in a room enjoy the music, but could be blasted on the bus, pumped while jogging on a beach or played softly while studying. It changed the way people at all ages enjoy their leisure time wherever they want. By turning the volume up, anyone could be tuned out. When I first time saw the cassette walkman I was so jealous of my cousin who was showing of his walkman by listening it all the time. I was thinking that a portable Music Player would be the coolest thing I would ever want. People at my age would have had the same feeling.
Same Fate for IPod?
Perhaps Oct. 23, 2001, the day the iPod was launched, is the better date of expiration for walkman. It takes the place of walkman due to its portability advantage, the high-quality music it offers and the internal storage it has. IPod rules the music circle is the destined revolution which meets the Darwinism. Will IPod follow the steps of the Sony cassette? The iPod will likely one day befall a similar fate, and another generation will rule this field. Nobody knows for sure but time will approve the truth. .IPod like others great inventions not only sold all around the world in great quantity, but also drive other IPod accessories like earphone and IPod cases. Recent years it is tough for the singers and music men who suffered a lot from the music download. IPod download with its popularity to some degree protected the rights and benefit of those singers.

Just like the human being's romance, one relationship is replaced by another. The parting lover will be in our memory and the present one should be taken care of.
