Traditional Toys - the Playthings That Withstood Time

Wood has always been a choice of making toys from ancient times. It is seen that even though technology has improved a lot still people around the world treasure hand made wooden toys. They feel it adds more uniqueness to the wooden toys when compared to the plastic toys which are mass produced and hardly can be told any difference between each other. Though toy companies prefer plastics toys as they are cheap, easy to bulk produce many people do not think in he same way. They feel that their wooden toys are work of craftsmanship of the highest quality.

The most important factor is that even though they take a lot of time to be made the finished wooden toys is worth as a treasure basically for the amount of time and dedication the crafter has put on the wooden toys to make it perfect. Also in ancient times the wooden toys were painted with a mixture of plant extract and few more minerals so it provides proper color to the wooden toys but also make it difficult to etch away by time. It is found the craftsmanship of the ancient world was so perfect that, even though archaeologists have found these priceless treasures of the past which even dates in years before Christ, these wooden toys are still in its perfect form and shape. Even after being buried for so many thousand years they still have not lost their texture and beauty. The most beautiful wooden toys were from the ancient world of Egypt where the most exotic crafters of the world were present.

The most common wooden toys were from the in the type of rocking models. These wooden toys rock to and fro every time as little push was given to the either the front end or the rear end of the toy. Only from these wooden toys came the idea of using rocking toys which are used for kids throughout the world. These wooden toys are made of various shapes of animals such as horse, tiger, lion, giraffe, zebra, and elephants and so on. Even though wooden toys are not very popular around the world as plastic toys, there are many people who buy their kids these wooden toys which cherished their childhood days. Even board games are being replaced by plastics those which are made out of wood are considered to be more precious in nature and value.

These wooden toys are of higher price because of the time it has taken to make it perfect is higher than plastic toys. Though plastic toys are much easier and faster to be made it is not considered by people who believe in art. They feel that the real potential of the craftsman is brought out by single wooden toys. The most difficult part of the wooden toys is to carve the sharp ends and also at the same time made it smooth. It must not be forgotten that even a single lapse of concentration can cause redoing of the toys.
